Troubleshoot form submissions

Most form issues come from one of five places: the page, the form fields, customer sync, protection checks, or follow-up automation. Work through them in order.

What this guide helps you do

  • Find why a submission is missing or incomplete.
  • Fix customer sync and journey-trigger issues.
  • Know when to test from the published page instead of an editor view.

Before you start

  • Know the form name and page URL.
  • Have one recent test submission you can repeat.
  • Know whether customer sync, tracking, or a journey should run after submit.

Do it manually

  1. Open the published page and submit a test entry.
  2. Open Forms, choose the form, and refresh submissions.
  3. If the submission is missing, confirm the page is using the intended form.
  4. If fields are missing, compare the visible form fields to What this form collects.
  5. If customer sync fails, confirm email is collected and mapped.
  6. If a journey does not start, review the form trigger and whether pending form changes were saved.
  7. If protection blocks submissions, confirm the security check loads on the published page.

Ask Faster AI

  • Troubleshoot why this form is not creating customer records. Check the fields, customer sync, and recent submissions.
  • Review this form and page and tell me why submissions might be missing a field.
  • Check why the welcome journey did not start after a form submission and list what I should test next.

Review before publishing or using the form

  • Test the exact page visitors use.
  • Keep one clean test submission for comparison while troubleshooting.
  • Do not change several settings at once; test after each fix.

Common issues and fixes

  • If nothing saves, check the published page connection first.
  • If only customer sync fails, review the email field and mapping.
  • If only automation fails, review the journey trigger and Audience preview.
  • If submissions are spammy or blocked, review the form security settings and page behavior.

Lead capture workflow

For a practical phone-to-follow-up test that catches broken thank-you states, missing emails, bad mapping, and stalled tasks, read the lead capture forms article. Lead Capture Forms That Actually Convert.

Smarter Forms workflow

For the product path to check when source tracking, customer mapping, or journey handoff does not behave as expected, read the Smarter Forms product article. Smarter Forms: Tracking, Mapping, and Follow-Up Built In.

Placeholder media

  • Screenshot placeholder: add an annotated screenshot of troubleshoot form submissions with names, emails, submission values, and private tracking details blurred.
  • Video placeholder: add a short walkthrough that starts from Forms, shows the manual path, then shows how to ask Faster AI for the same outcome and review the result.
